The DIA is proud to salute Target, one of the nation’s leading retailers. Our partnership with them has spanned many years and their dedication to family activities at the museum has been most rewarding. In December 2007, Target began sponsoring programs, workshops, and activities associated with the popular Sunday family day at the new DIA.
Minneapolis-based Target has 1,591 stores in forty-seven states and is committed to providing guests with great design through innovative products, instore experiences, and community partnerships. Target gives more than $3 million a week to local communities through grants and special programs. Since opening its first store in 1962, Target has partnered with nonprofit organizations, guests, and team members to help meet community needs. Each year, Target’s nationwide network of team members and retirees volunteer more than 350,000 hours to more than 7,000 community-based projects.
We thank Target for this latest expression of their corporate commitment to the Detroit Institute of Arts.
