Yoga Revealed: Painting from the kingdom of Marwar-Jodhpur
Debra Diamond discusses an extraordinary group of recently discovered Indian paintings that depict the philosophical underpinnings of hatha yoga with visionary intensity. Monumental in size and painted in dazzling colors , these revolutionary paintings were hidden for over a century in the royal collection of Marwar-Jodhpur.
Dr. Debra Diamond, Associate Curator of South and Southeast Asian Art, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution is curator of “Garden and Cosmos,” currently on view in the British Museum. It was named “the great Asian exhibition of the year” by the International Herald Tribune.

A Revolution in Taste: Chinese Blue-and-White Porcelains of the Yuan (1279-1368) and Ming (1368-1644) Dynasties
Robert Mowry will show how early Ming patronage of porcelain production elevated blue-and-white wares to the luxury status that made it globally desirable. In addition, he will explore similarities between Yuan and Ming porcelains, lacquers, metalwork, and woodblock-printed books.
