(USA – 2009 – directed by Robert Siegel)

For Paul Aufiero (Patton Oswalt), a 35-year-old Staten Island parking garage attendant, sports is far more than a pastime. Paul lives – literally – for his devotion to a single team: the New York Giants. Keeping his mother (with whom he still lives) awake at night with his telephoned diatribes to call-in radio sports talk shows, Paul’s allegiance to his favorite team knows no bounds and remains unquestioned – until, that is, his loyalty is unexpectedly put to the test due to a fateful, personal encounter with the team’s most valuable player. The directorial debut of Robert Siegel, who scripted last year’s acclaimed Mickey Rourke starrer The Wrestler, is a darkly funny, disturbing and often poignant distant cousin to Scorsese’s The King of Comedy, featuring a knockout performance by comedian Patton Oswalt. (85 min.)

“A very fine feature directing debut… Patton Oswalt is terrific and fearless.”  -Manohla Dargis, The New York Times
