For decades, some of the most entertaining, witty and creative examples of short form filmmaking have been found in Britain’s incomparable and always surprising television advertising. Unlike any other form of “TV commercials” in the world, Britain’s TV ads have featured brilliantly conceived, cutting-edge productions that have showcased the early work of such renowned artists as Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Hugh Hudson, and Alan Parker as they were working their way toward becoming full-fledged Hollywood directors. Since the 1980s, each year’s top prizewinners have toured the world in a showcase that has become immensely popular in every city in which it plays. We’re delighted that the DIA has joined the privileged few American museums selected for the tour – a list that includes The Museum of Modern Art as well as the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, where 20,000 tickets were sold to last year’s shows! A unique cinematic experience – as well as wonderful fun – the 2009 BTAA tour is one of the year’s must-see DFT events. This program is recommended for persons aged 16+. (80 min.)
