2:00 PM  Detroit Film Theatre

Canada/2008—directed by Des McAnuff (154 min.)

We’re honored to present – in cooperation with the Stratford Shakespeare Festival – a special one-time-only screening of Stratford’s acclaimed 2008 production of Bernard Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra, starring Christopher Plummer, Nikki M. James, Diane D’Aquila and Steven Sutcliffe. Recorded in high-definition before a live Stratford audience, this version of Shaw’s wry and tantalizing historical comedy has not previously been seen on American movie screens; for those who’ve marveled at Plummer in this year’s Stratford production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, or who’ll be experiencing his amazing vocal work in the upcoming DFT presentation of the new animated film My Dog Tulip, his legendary performance in Caesar and Cleopatra is simply a must.

“Complex and witty portraits of two of the most renowned characters in history.” –Des McAnuff, Artistic Director, Stratford Shakespeare Festival
