Journey to Algiers tells the true story of an independence fighter's widow expulsed from her house by a local city official. After a lost battle at the local level, she decides to go to the capital to meet the President of the Republic. She wins her case with the intervention of a young colonel who later became president. Journey to Algiers was an official selection of the FESPACO African film festival, and was awarded Best Screenplay at the FIFF Francophone film festival. Director Abdelkrim Bahloul will make a personal appearance to discuss his film with the audience.

This special event is presented by Friends of Detroit Film Theatre in collaboration with the Francophone Film Festival of Kalamazoo, and is free to FDFT members.
