La Prima Cosa Bella (The First Beautiful Thing) follows a strong and optimistic single mother raising her two children in a provincial Italian town during the 1970s. This  touching comedic drama from acclaimed director Paolo Virzì was the Italian nominee for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Foreing Film. La Prima Cosa Bella is the opening night film for the fourth annual Italian Film Festival USA - Detroit.  The festival is a non-profit organization that brings contemporary Italian films to the Detroit metro area.  More information about this year's festival is available on the website,  La Prima Cosa Bella is presented by the Michigan Chapter of the Dante Alighieri Society and the Detroit Film Theatre.
