The Michigan Creative Film Alliance and the Detroit Film Theatre present the world premiere of Beauty Queen on Thursday, March 29, at 7:00 PM
The Michigan Creative Film Alliance (MCFA) is a groundbreaking joint venture between Michigan State University, the University of Michigan, and Wayne State University. These universities have created a partnership to bring together their talent and resources to form a home-grown film community for Michigan. Following in the footsteps of last year's Appleville, MCFA opens its second collaborative film, Beauty Queen, at the Detroit Film Theatre this month. Beauty Queen is the story of a young woman who, as a college freshman and successful pageant queen, is diagnosed with a rare skin disease, alopecia, which results in the loss of her hair. With the help of an unlikely friend she must learn to deal with her condition in order to win the pageant and the scholarship that she hopes will pay her tuition for music school.
Doors will open at 6 PM. The program will begin at 7 PM with introductory remarks, followed by the premiere of Beauty Queen. The film's cast and crew will then gather onstage for a Q & A with the audience, followed by a reception in Prentis Court at approximately 8:00 PM. Admission for this event is free to the general public.
