Minneapolis-based photographer Alec Soth has traveled across the U.S. capturing people, places and everyday moments of contemporary America. Soth will present a lecture on his photographic work, exhibitions and publications from the last 15 years. The lecture will be followed by a screening of the film Somewhere to Disappear by Laure Flammarion and Arnaud Uyttenhoye with Alec Soth. The 57- minute documentary features Soth during the course of his most recent photographic project featuring men who live on the fringe of society. Watch the film trailer here. This is Soth’s first appearance at the DIA and it is presented by the Forum for Prints, Drawings and Photographs (FPDP) and the Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography (DCCP).
The lecture is sponsored by Amerisure. Funding for the film has been provided by the DCCP.
