7:00 PM Detroit Film Theatre

(USA/2013–Directed by Carrie LeZotte)

Population loss and industrial collapse scar cities around the globe. People in post-industrial, blighted neighborhoods are taking action to make their communities a better place to live. While transitioning their cities from polluted wastelands to environmentally sustainable communities, these urban heroes tell an international story we all share.  Inspired by the award-winning book Reimagining Detroit (2011) by Detroit Free Press journalist John Gallagher, interviews from the film are included in his 2013 release Revolution Detroit, both published by Wayne State University Press.  Produced by a Detroit-based filmmaking team, the production traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Youngstown, Ohio, Torino, Italy, and the Ruhr Valley region in Western Germany to see the special areas of expertise and stories of success in those cities. (54 mins.)

There will be a Q & A with the director Carrie LeZotte and author John Gallagher after the screening.

Admission to this film is free to the public.
