Dlectricity is a nighttime outdoor festival which will invite artists, performers, designers and architects to create site-specific light installations, performances and projections. For two electrifying evenings, Midtown Detroit will be enveloped in a sea of light as the city landscape is transformed into a temporary art exhibition.
The DIA will host a number of Dlectricty installations including dolefullhouse (loggia courtyard on John R St.) by the contemporary Japanese artist Tabaimo. Tabaimo’s work examines the unseen, darker side of contemporary experience, exploring what lies beneath the seeming orderliness of the everyday world. And she draws on all kinds of sources, from the aesthetics of traditional Japanese woodcuts, to the sometimes-absurd narratives of Japanese comics and animations, and anime.
