VCESDA Creating Sugar Sculpture: A Two-Part Seminar & Luncheon

Using traditional tools and techniques, famed British food historian Ivan Day demonstrates how to create sugar sculpture. Day, an authority on British and European culinary history, specializes in the development of sugar as a sculptural medium and is well-known for his recreations of historic meals and table settings.
Part 2: Using original molds and equipment, Day demonstrates how to make a Renaissance sugar tazza (a cup or a vessel) in the style of Giulio Romano, the Renaissance painter, architect and protégé of Raphael.
Luncheon to follow in FJC Dining Rooms A & B.
Open to VCESDA members only, advance reservations are required. Please call the DIA ticket office at 313.833.4005 or click here with your choice of seared salmon, rosemary garlic roasted chicken breast or eggplant tower.
This event is offered free of charge for VCESDA members at the Governing level and above. All other Visiting Committee members may attend for $40.
Deadline for reservations is Friday January 27, 2017.
