Puppet Performance: Whatforward Circus

Saturday, May 20, 2017 |3 p.m.

Join esteemed Bread & Puppet Theatre (and a few local volunteer performers) in an outdoor spectacle in which a group of stone-age technology puppeteers, brass players, and percussionists fight the anonymous monster, the Big Fat Wrong. Complete with Mongolian hordes, singing toilets and stilted flying businessmen, Bread & Puppet Theatre invites the whole family to dance and sing and question. Bring blankets or chairs and enjoy an afternoon on our north lawn!

In the true spirit of community engagement volunteers are welcome to take part in the performances. The DIA is looking for 10-20 people to join in the fun that might include performing with puppets and masks, dancing with a group or just waving a flag. All ages, skill levels and abilities are welcome and the parts can be learned quickly. Those interested should be able to commit to one rehearsal (10 a.m. - 1 p.m.) and one performance (3 p.m. - 4 p.m.) on Saturday or Sunday, May 20 or 21. Volunteers should wear white clothing with no logos. Lunch will be provided. Please contact Emily Bowyer at ebowyer@dia.org for more information.
