Seventy-second Annual Student Exhibition
Sunday, April 26, 2009 – Sunday, May 31, 2009
Walter Gibbs Learning Center
The Annual Detroit Public Schools Student Exhibition returns to the DIA after years in exile to inaugurate the Walter Gibbs Learning Center in the Wayne and Joan Webber Education Wing. The seventy-second such show features the works of young artists, from kindergarten to twelfth grade, in a range of mediums, including drawing, ceramics, collage, and jewelry, among others. A panel of three judges selected the works to be exhibited from the hundreds submitted for consideration. While the museum was undergoing years of renovation and construction, the show was held in the main Detroit Public Library, across Woodward Avenue from the DIA.
This year, student art works can be viewed on the online photo-sharing site Flickr.com.
