The Art of Screenprint
Wednesday, September 28, 2005 – Saturday, December 31, 2005
This exhibition presents the versatility of screenprint by concentrating on the variety of procedures artists employ to create images in this major category of modern printmaking. The objects are selected from the museum’s collection and the archives of Stewart & Stewart, printers and publishers of fine art screenprints in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, for 25 years. Highlighted artists include Janet Fish, John Himmelfarb, Hunt Slonem and Steven Sorman, among many others. The history of the medium will also be displayed in a small selection of eclectic prints by dozens of other artists working now and earlier in the 20th century. This exhibition is free with museum admission.
