The McKinney Zone is side project of Detroit Jazz drummer Gayelynn McKinney that meshes jazz, funk, neo-soul and Latin influences. Gayelynn is best known as a founding member of the Detroit based, Grammy nominated all-female jazz group Straight Ahead, but is known to embrace multiple musical genres.

 

 

 


Drop-In Workshop: Fans: Uchiwa
Uchiwa is a particular style of paper fan common in Japan. Learn about the tradition of making Uchiwa as you create a fan of your own based.

Drawing in the Galleries for Youth
6–9 p.m.
(Ages 6–14, children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult)
Artist/instructors help participants create pencil drawings to take home. No experience necessary; materials provided.
