Tribute to Dorothy Ashby wth the Brandee Younger Quintet

Friday, August 22, 2014

7 & 8:30 pm

  • For Everyone
Harpist Brandee Younger honors the spirit of Dorothy Ashby, a Detroit harpist who, along with Alice Coltrane, proved the harp could be used in bebop jazz as effectively as the saxophone. Harpist Brandee Younger is a versatile musician who has been proven to defy genres and labels and has created a unique niche in both traditional and non-traditional harp arenas. Joining Brandee Younger for this tribute are Anne Drummond on flute, Chelsea Barantz on tenor sax, Rashaan Carter on bass and E.J. Strickland on drums.
