Friday Night Live!
Friday Night Live! / Art Detroit Now

Friday, May 09, 2008 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The DIA celebrates "Art Detroit Now" weekend on Friday, May 9, with programs featuring the work of Detroit artists. Over the course of the weekend, approximately seventy-five metro Detroit galleries highlight paintings, sculpture, photography, and craft and decorative objects created by area artists. In addition to the programs below, works in the DIA collection by Detroiters and other from the area are identified in the galleries.

Music: ADULT.
7 & 8:30 p.m.

Detroit Duo ADULT., known for their synth-punk music, will present a short, silent experimental horror film accompanied by their own peculiar electronic horror music. The film, entitled "ENCAMPMENT," was written, produced and directed by ADULT. earlier this year especially for this DIA performance. The film follows a woman's transmigration from her regular life into a new society of deceit.  Filmed entirely in Michigan with all local actors, "DECAMPMENT" explores ADULT.'s obsession with an often overlooked and distinctive aesthetic that they call "midwestern horror". The all new soundtrack will be performed live by ADULT. during the screening of the film and will be a mutation of instrumental film music and more "ADULT.-like" irregularities. Not for the faint of heart.
