Special Event
Fore!Fun Artfully Designed Mini Golf Hits the DIA’s North Lawn This Summer
May 28 - September 2, 2007 Wed-Thu, 11:30am-7pm; Fri-Sun, 11:30am-8pm
Since the galleries are closed, why not take advantage of the great outdoors? With the help of area artists, architects, designers, and students, the DIA is offering just such an opportunity with a ten-hole miniature golf course on the museum’s north lawn. Not only whimsical but challenging, the course will be open Wednesdays through Sundays. For a small fee, DIA members and the general public can play on holes that you just won’t find at the average “Putt Putt” golf. In addition to the individual holes, the caddy shack, and course layout are being designed by members of the University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Architecture. In between golf rounds, you’ll be able to have a seat and get a snack. Make sure to stop by for a rare art-golf experience.
Admission: $5 per adult (members $4) $3 per child (up to 12)
Right: Construction work ahead: one of the holes on the DIA's ten-hole miniature golf course, designed by Mark Hildebrandt of Gillett Associates.
