SHORT FILMS OF DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS

Saturday, March 15, 2008 4:00 PM

Mystery of the Leaping Fish (1916) Directed by John Emerson

Down to Earth (1917) Directed by John Emerson

Matrimaniac (1916) Directed by Paul Powell

Well before Douglas Fairbanks made the swashbucklers and epics he is most famous for, he appeared in films which expressed a culture that idealized athleticism. Tremendously popular in their time, Fairbanks’ "single reelers" remain largely unknown to modern audiences. These three prime examples offer a rare opportunity to experience his eternally youthful optimism. (98 min.) Sat. at 4:00

Admission is free to the public.
