Teacher Workshop: Life's Pleasures: The Ashcan Artist's Brush with Leisure, 1895-1925

Discover how the transformation of America captured in early twentieth-century art and literature can stimulate student writing:

  • Tour the exhibition with James Tottis, associate curator of American Art, before it opens to the public
  • Anne Gautreau, writing teacher, models writing lessons and strategies for high school students, using art in DIA galleries
  • Attend the DIA members’ preview and a lecture on the exhibition.
  • Supports English Language Arts Standards
  • Recommended for middle and high school teachers

Teaching materials will be provided.
Includes exhibition admission, a $10 value.

Member fee: $40; nonmember fee: $50
Pre-service teacher fee: $25
Additional fees apply where noted. SB-CEU credit available for additional fee.
All Saturday workshops begin in the Crystal Gallery.
