Music: Ben Smolder and Audrey Causilla
6:30 & 8 p.m.   

Bass-baritone Benjamin Smolder has performed opera in the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Vienna and Cairo as well as with the Spoleto Festival, the Des Moines Opera, and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Pianist Audrey Causilla has performed in numerous solo, chamber music, and art song recitals in Washington D.C., Baltimore, Cincinnati and Stuttgart. Together they present a spectacular performance.

 

DIA Moment: Aerial Angels
7:15 & 8:45 p.m.

The Aerial Angels are high-flying female circus artists who re-create the circus/vaudeville atmosphere depicted in paintings featured in Life’s Pleasures: The Ashcan Artists' Brush with Leisure. They perform acrobatic maneuvers, fire-eating and crack bullwhip feats. Accompanying music provided by composer Frank Pahl and pianist Dave Drazin.

Drop-In Workshop: Simple Adornments
6–9 p.m
(12 and under must be with an adult)

Create imaginative jewelry using common materials in unusual ways.

Location: Loggia, Student Lunch Area

 

Drawing in the Galleries for Youth
6–9 p.m.
(Ages 6–14, children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult)

Artist/instructors help participants create pencil drawings to take home. No experience necessary; materials provided.

6–9 p.m.
(Ages 15 & older)

Artist/instructors help participants create pencil drawings to take home. No experience necessary; materials provided.

Adventures in Drawing
6–9 p.m.
(Ages 5 and younger. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please remain with your children at all times. DIA is not responsible for children left unattended.)

Children explore creative expression through drawing with assistance from museum instructors.

Location: Family Room, Level 2
