Grand Opening Weekend: November 23—25
After six years in the making, it's finally here, the biggest cultural event
of 2007—the Grand Opening of the NEW DIA! On November 23rd, the museum
will open with more gallery space, more art and more fun! Admission is free
all weekend long. It's going to be a marathon opening weekend as the DIA will
stay open for 32 hours straight—from 10 a.m., November 23rd to 6 p.m.,
November 24th.
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION
Depending on the time of your visit parking around the museum may be limited.
In order to best service your needs several special parking options have been
arranged and are listed below.
Limited parking is available at the Cultural Center parking lot directly
behind the museum. Click here

Limited underground parking is available directly south of the museum at the
corner of Woodward and Farnsworth.
Wayne State University will also have parking available at the following

COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE
Look for our complimentary shuttle on the corner of Woodward Avenue and
Elizabeth Street, right in front of our huge building wrap next to
the Fillmore Theater! The shuttle will run continuously during the Member

ENTERTAINMENT
Throughout the Grand Opening Weekend, enjoy art, music, dance, storytelling,
yoga, fencing, poetry and of course, the real star—the museum itself.
Art After Hours kicks in from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. with DJs, Coney dogs and

The DIA is wheelchair-accessible at the Farnsworth St. entrance. For more

VISITOR SERVICES
To help protect the art, please leave backpacks, large strollers, and long
umbrellas in your vehicle. A limited number of complimentary umbrella
strollers (and wheelchairs) will be available. Complimentary coat check is
available at the Woodward and Farnsworth entrances.
