Assessments:

Prior to completion, students were monitored as to how well they were contributing to the project. I asked for periodic feedback, and evaluated progress according to standards of neatness, and effort as well as clarity of idea. Students were asked to view the piece as a whole. From an esthetic standpoint we assessed the project according to the arrangement of the elements and principals of art. The students were asked to list and talk about advantages and disadvantages of working in a group. The types of problems they encountered and how they were solved were discussed as well. Students were asked to write a final paper that addressed how their perception of community has been enhanced or changed as a result of the project. A class discussion or critique occurred at mid-point and at the end. See Assessment Rubric.
