Our district does a standard measurement assessment at the end of the first grade year. Students are asked to measure the length and width of a rectangle with a standard 12" ruler. My youngsters not only were able to perform the task, they understood the need for accomplishing this task. They were able to transfer the concept of measurement from cubits to inches. | |
