Activity Assessments Objectives and Standards Preparation and Resources Teacher Comments

The ability to correctly locate and label cities, countries, continents, and bodies of water on a map and the ability to place events in a correct chronological order are two skills that are emphasized in grade six and are the focus of this lesson. Students were be assessed first on their ability to follow directions and neatly and accurately draw a time line and to place important events in the life of Diego Rivera in the order in which they occurred.

Secondly, students were assessed on their ability to place in sequence (that is, in the order they were visited or lived in by Rivera) the places he went; and, on their ability to label the cities, countries, and important geographical features found in the countries where Rivera lived and worked. Students had to know how to use the world atlases in the classroom to complete this task.
