Activity Assessments Objectives and Standards Preparation and Resources Teacher Comments

  1. Ask students to restate the procedure for making the print.
  2. Ask students to make associations between the concepts in the mural and in the prints. Listen for responses such as:
Diego Rivera links man and technology in his mural. I linked the concept of man and technology by creating the human image and adding symbols of technology, such as small machine parts and found objects.
    or

"Diego Rivera repeated patterns of blue and orange throughout the composition. I also repeated patterns of color by using them at least three times throughout my print."

  3. Ask students to analyze the differences between Detroit Industry and their individual works of art.
  4. Ask students why it is important to make inferences about works of art.
  5. Ask students to identify some of the principles of art appear both in Detroit Industry and their personal work of art.

They may consider this their "artistic statement." It can be recorded in writing and accompany the work when exhibited.
