A discussion is held using the following sample questions or similar ones; designate a student to write main thoughts on the board:- What just happened?
Sample response: "We were being inventors." - How do you feel about this?
Responses can range from "It was fun." to "I didn't like the way someone used my part." Note: Teacher should explore this further for a better understanding of "letting go" as part of the group process. - What would you do differently if you got to work as a group again?
- After doing this, what do you think a group project means?
- Why would you work with a group rather than alone; what are the benefits?
- What do you think a group project is, now that you've had this experience?
The teacher facilitates the discussion by asking the questions, listening carefully to what is said, paraphrasing answers, and probing statements to fully explore what is being said. This is done with the intent of bringing the group to a fuller understanding of the process and concept of collaboration.
