Downs, Linda Bank. Diego Rivera: The Detroit Industry Murals. New York: Norton, 1999.
In addition to full coverage and analysis of the murals, includes murals planning, Rivera's working methods, Diego and wife Frida Kahlo's stay in Detroit, and the public's dramatic response to the murals. Linda Downs, formerly Curator of Education at the DIA, is now with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

A reissue of the catalogue for the 1985 exhibition organized by the Detroit Institute of Arts, this work is still the most complete book on Rivera.

DIA Visual Resources Art Image Database
Several images of Detroit Industry can be seen in the Rivera Archive section of the DIA Visual Resources Art Image Database. In"Diego Rivera Images; Then/Now," 1932 archival photos change into present-day color images of the murals. "Diego Rivera at the DIA" contains photos of Rivera at work, Frida Kahlo, and the Ford Motor Company River Rouge Plant.

The Getty Education Institute's website includes a DBAE curriculum on Mexican American murals. Though Rivera is not a featured artist, his work is discussed in the context of "Los Tres Grandes," the Three Great Ones (Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros, and Jose Orozco) of 20th Century Mexican art. Lesson plans such as "Mexican American Murals - Influences from the Past" are available.
