The DTE Energy Foundation
The photographs of Ansel Adams, perhaps more than that of any other
photographer, trigger an appreciation of the beauty of our country’s
natural resources and a desire to protect those resources. It is one
reason why the DTE Energy Foundation is proud to sponsor Ansel
Adams.
DTE Energy, its employees and the DTE Energy Foundation have long
been committed to Michigan and its institutions, and believe it is
important to make great art accessible to Michigan residents. They
also have a long-standing commitment to the environment. That commitment
dates back to 1928 when Detroit Edison first installed equipment to
reduce power plant emissions, well before cleaning the air became
state and national priorities. In recent years, the company has planted
more than 24 million trees throughout Michigan, helping to capture
carbon dioxide, provide habitat for wildlife and make our communities
greener.
DTE Energy Foundation recognized that this exhibit was an opportunity
to demonstrate both commitments in a unique way.
Not only does it make more of Adams’ work personally accessible
to hundreds of thousands of Michiganders, many of the images in the
exhibit will bring to life for viewers the beauty and complexity of
the natural world. The men and women of DTE Energy understand that
balancing the growing demand for energy and the desire to maintain,
protect and restore the environment is not an easy task. Adams’
art reminds us all why achieving that balance is so important.
As the philanthropic arm of DTE Energy, the DTE Energy Foundation
supports the Detroit Institute of Arts and other institutions and
organizations that strengthen and enhance the communities DTE Energy
serves. In 2006, the DTE Energy Foundation contributed well over $6.5
million to Michigan nonprofit organizations.
Grants are awarded under the foundation’s “LEAD”
guidelines, which direct its support to organizations that promote
leadership, education, the environment, achievement, development and
diversity in the DTE Energy service territory. More information on
the DTE Energy Foundation is available at dteenergy.com/community/foundation/.
