The latest issue of the Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts, vol. 86 1/4, is devoted to the museum’s collection of African American art. With an introduction by Valerie J. Mercer, curator and head of the GM Center for African American Art, the volume contains more than fifty entries on works dating from the nineteenth century to the twenty-first. Price: $15, $13.50 for members. Back issues also available.
The Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts, in print since 1919, is devoted to new research on works of art in the museum's permanent collection. Articles, by DIA staff and other specialists, vary in length from brief notes to in-depth studies.
