Set up a Guided Visit
Guided visits for grades 3–12 are available Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from September through May. The Museum is closed Monday and Tuesday. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays. Guided visits may be scheduled as early as 9:30 a.m. but self-guided visits are only available once the museum opens at 10 a.m. A guided visit is included in admission price: $4/student and chaperone; Detroit residents and students receive free admission on Friday. Space is limited, so please schedule visits at least four weeks in advance.
Subsidy Information: The DIA offers bus and admission subsidies on an as needed, first-come basis. Apply for a subsidy

Interpreting Art Gallery Discussion
Students explore images of art from diverse cultures and times. They are guided through discussions using a questioning strategy that activates existing knowledge and promotes cooperative learning, while building confidence in interpreting art. For groups of 15–60 Students.

Teaching volunteers present a broad range of works by African American artists, from the 19th century through the present day. The discussion offers opportunities to explore issues of African American identity. For groups of 15–45 Students.
