Rights
& Reproduction
All images on these DIA Web pages are "Photograph © The Detroit
Institute of Arts." Reproduction of these images requires licensing
through our Rights and Reproduction Department. Licensing is limited
to the specific permissions granted in our contract, and any use
outside the terms of license will constitute a breach of our contract.
Many works created after the year 1925 may be under copyright by the artist, the artist's heirs or a foundation holding the rights to those works. Without prior permission from the holder of the underlying copyright, such works may not be used in any form; they may not be copied, downloaded or clipped. Prior to requesting the use of a transparency or digital image of such works, a license must be obtained from the artist or the artist's representative for the specific use intended. Without such permission from the artist, the DIA will not release images in any form for any use including educational or non profit applications.
The DIA Photography/Rights & Reproductions Department gives you access to
a large selection of works in our collections:
- Original color transparencies, 4x5" (10x13 cm)
or 8x10" (20x25 cm)
All transparencies are high-quality camera originals, not duplicates.
Each transparency can be rented for a four-month period at a rental
fee of $100.
- High-resolution digital images on CD-R
There will be a $100 charge per image.
Upon receipt of your request, you will be invoiced for the rental
or purchase and license fees. The image will then be shipped upon receipt of
payment.
Low-resolution images may be published in electronic media only.
We do not allow print reproduction of these images in any form.
