Cindy Mies has been a Gallery Service (GS) volunteer at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) for 13 years, and a leader in the museum's Volunteer program for seven years. She has served as program chairperson and newsletter chair for GS, and as Volunteer Placement vice-chairperson and auditor for the Volunteer Council. For the last two years Mies has been chairperson of the Detroit Film Theater Usher Committee (DFTU). Outside the museum, she works for J.P.M. Chase as a project manager. Meeting new people is a treat for Mies. Volunteering at the DIA adds balance to her life and helps to broaden her life experiences.
