Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts
The Bulletin of the Detroit Institute of Arts, in print since 1919, is devoted to new research on works of art in the museum's permanent collection. Articles, by DIA staff and other specialists, vary in length from brief notes to in-depth studies.
Volume 82, number 1/2, includes the following articles:
- Jason Weems on science and the techno-visual subject of a 1967 work on paper by Robert Rauschenberg
- Carmenita Higginbotham on Reginald Marsh's Savoy Ballroom and the practice of slumming
- Michael Crane on collecting contemporary American art at the DIA in the early twentieth century
- Laurie Barnes and Bangjin Fan on the late Ming Dynasty master Dong Qichang's tribute to the wild cursive calligraphy of Zhang Xu
- Micha Leeflang on the infrared reflectography study of Joos van Cleve's Adoration of the Magi altarpiece
- Jinah Kim on the historical context and placement of images in a twelfth-century illustrated manuscript from eastern India
