I love the vibrant colors and quick brush strokes that make the trees move. I can't help but smile every time I pass by this painting. I have to resist the urge to jump in an empty canoe and float down the river.

I can hardly image what it was like to live in Rome during the reign of Augustus. There was so much turmoil, yet people still went on with their daily lives. To me, the statue is a link to the people of the past.
