SAINT JEROME IN HIS STUDY
c. 1435
Although I have many, one of my favorites is Saint Jerome in his study (and not just because he is the patron saint of libraries). I am always struck by how this tiny painting has such a large visual impact with its vivid jewel-toned colors and detailed imagery. The fun thing about this painting is learning what the objects surrounding Saint Jerome symbolize. It’s like trying to solve a puzzle.
