Volunteer Award Winner:
Arlene Cobau
Volunteer to Volunteer- May 2011
Arlene Cobau of the IPV Committee is the May Volunteer to Volunteer Awardee.
After her retirement from the Jacobson’s store in Grosse Pointe, where she was assistant store manager, Arlene began her volunteer career with the Detroit Institute of Arts. Her interest in children led her to train for the Art to the Schools Committee. Upon completion of the course, Arlene became an active member of the committee, serving as the chair of special events, vice chair, and chair. Seeking to expand her work at the museum, Arlene took the training class to become a docent. Being a member of both committees allowed her to do one of her favorite things: work with children.
The DIA is one of many of Arlene’s interests. She is actively involved at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, the Grand Marais Garden Club, and the Happy Bookers Book Club. In her spare time, she plays tennis and golf, and practices yoga.
Spending time with her husband, John, her four sons, and eleven grandchildren, is one of her greatest pleasures.
Congratulations, Arlene, on being named the May Volunteer to Volunteer Awardee.
