Beverly Avadenka

Volunteer to Volunteer- September/October 2011

Beverly is a fourteen-year volunteer with the Gallery Information committee and is in the museum almost every Wednesday morning helpfully guiding visitors around the DIA. Additionally, she has served as recording secretary for Gallery Information.

Bev says the best thing about volunteering at the DIA is the contact with visitors and being able to enhance their visit by helping them to find the things they want to see and do. Knowing that what we do as volunteers for the DIA is in many ways a unique service not all museums offer is especially rewarding to her.

In addition to her work at the DIA, Bev has volunteered in the local schools and has worked for the Literacy Council.

Both Bev and her husband grew up in Pontiac, where she later taught elementary school in several schools, at one time teaching at the school she attended. They have three adult daughters, all of whom live in the Detroit area.

Congratulations, Beverly, on being the September/October Volunteer to Volunteer awardee.
