DIA Volunteer at Rivera Court
Volunteer Award Winner:
Museum Shop Volunteer of the Year 2013-2014
Born in Detroit, I graduated from Central High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayne State University. Along the way, I married Bernard Moss, and this summer we will celebrate our 48th wedding Anniversary.
For the past 26 years, I have been an active member of the DIA and have served on three service committees. My first volunteer experience was with the Volunteer Membership Committee, where I was recording secretary for one term. After 14 years of service, the VMC was dissolved. Wanting to remain as a volunteer and be a part of the DIA community, I was drawn to the Museum Shop Committee. Working in a lively and fun atmosphere appealed to me. It turned out to be a perfect choice. My third volunteer service was with the Day Away with the DIA Committee.
What I enjoy most about working in the shop is meeting and working with DIA visitors, volunteers and staff. It is a pleasure for me to attend to shop customers and help them make selections from the merchandise on display. Another perk is meeting many wonderful and interesting people from all over the world.
Some of my best memories at the museum include new member tours, member preview events and many fantastic special exhibits.
Best of all, I am grateful for the enriching experiences and intellectual activities provided to me by the DIA.
