Beverly Avadenka

Volunteer to Volunteer - January 2009

Beverly Avadenka has served on the Detroit Institute of Arts' (DIA) Gallery Information Committee (GI) for more than 10 years. She works at the museum's information desks most Wednesdays. She was GI Committee recording secretary and Volunteer Council publicity chairperson, completing one term for both. She has also volunteered on Noel Night. Avadenka loves the DIA, and before retiring as an elementary school teacher she often took her classes to the DIA and the children's theater. In addition to volunteering at the DIA, Avadenka serves on the Literacy Council in Pontiac and reads to kindergarteners in the Ferndale Schools. Her hobbies include travel, gardening, and art. She also loves music and Ash Can School art.
