DIA Volunteer at Rivera Court
Volunteer Award Winner:
Gallery Information Committee - December 2009The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Gallery Information Committee is pleased to honor Jeanne Gardner as its 2010 Volunteer of the Year.
Gardner loves volunteering and it shows. For the past 16 years, Gardner has assisted thousands of visitors who have stopped at the information desks. She is very knowledgeable about art in general (contemporary art is her personal favorite) and the DIA’s collection in particular. Her lifelong interest in art is readily apparent, and she meets her responsibilities with enthusiasm and a ready sense of humor.
An interior designer by profession, Gardner has also worked with Stalker & Boos, Auctioneers & Appraisers, and is a founding member of the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has lived in the metropolitan Detroit area her entire life. Gardner has two children, both currently residing in the Boston area.
"My friends know to never ask me to do anything with them on Thursday mornings," said Gardner. "My first responsibility is to the DIA."
We’re very fortunate she feels this way.
