Volunteer Award Winner:
Mary Keckhut
Volunteer to Volunteer - May 2010
Mary Keckhut, a volunteer on the DIA’s Gallery Information Committee, is the May Volunteer to Volunteer awardee. The award is given by other volunteers who recognize the outstanding service of their peers. A native Detroiter, Keckhut always wanted to be DIA volunteer. After substitute teaching and running a family business, she made her dream a reality.
Keckhut’s service at the DIA began seven years ago. She loves to see people leave the museum happy and believes that Gallery Information provides the basis for a positive visitor experience.
In addition to her work at the DIA, Keckhut volunteers at the St. Clair Shores Public Library and tutors adults in the literacy program. She is also the caregiver for several elderly relatives.
The National Parks are a travel destination for Keckhut and her husband on their quarterly getaways. With daughters in Fort Worth, Texas and Anchorage, Alaska, there is no question where Keckhut and her husband plan their summer and winter vacations.
Congratulations, Mary.
