Volunteer Award Winner:
Gallery Service - November 2010
The Detroit Institute of Arts Gallery Service Committee is pleased to honor Frank Petersmark as its 2010 Volunteer of the Year.
Frank Petersmark has been an asset to Gallery Service for over seven years. While he has a hard time singling out specific rewarding experiences during that time, we honor him for his time in the galleries as well as his time spent on the Gallery Service Board. He earned the title of Father of Volgistics by introducing this computer-generated scheduling system to our Committee!
Frank has an extensive background in History: He possesses a BA in History, a Minor in Art History, a Master’s in European History, and is currently working on a PhD in History! Besides volunteering at the DIA, Frank has been a member of the Livonia Arts Commission for over six years and volunteers at the Yankee Air Museum at Willow Run Airport. For twelve of his twenty-one years of service at Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company, he has been the Vice-President of Information Technology. Frank has recently launched his own technology consulting company, and is leaving Amerisure at the end of 2010.
Of his time spent in Gallery Service, Frank relates, "…each and every time I'm at the DIA, I feel better about things when I leave the museum than when I walked in (except for my feet, of course…)."
It's an honor to walk with you, Frank! We'll see you around, and around, and around, et circum, et circum, et circum…..
