Signed, Marks, Inscriptions
Inscriptions | The inscriptions appear to be in hieratic and are difficult to read, except those on the back which are in hieroglyphs and read : "priest of Amun, Ankh un Nefer." William Kelly Simpson (MFA, Boston) in a verbal communication has suggested that the figure was reused and the inscription added at a later date because the name and title of the inscription are not appropriate for this type of sculpture of the Middle Kingdom. |
