About the Artwork

This armor was part of an identical set of twelve the Duke of Bavaria ordered for members of his court. The pointed waist and wide hips were inspired by men’s fashion, a fitting design for tournament parades. Imagine the Duke’s entourage riding into an arena sporting this gleaming, high-end armor. The sight impressed crowds waiting for the joust.
