In ink, upper right corner of the face mat: 7; in pencil by the artist below the sheet on back mat: a drawing not unlike the image with the following above it: small white figure of / man lying down & gazing down.; to the right of the drawing: The most rapid & the largest of the movements- / The state here is a hardly more developed one / than we should find in a hopeful tree / in early spring - / Strong - gay - very gay - tremendously hopeful / & advancing at a great rate. / The end of this movement I conceive as / something like this (arrow pointing back to the drawing at the left) / EGC.
