84th Annual Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) Student Exhibition

April 23 – May 21, 2021

The DIA’s Annual Detroit Public Schools Community District Student Exhibition is online again!

Use the videos that will be linked on this page when the exhibition opens to explore the creativity and imagination of DPSCD students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. You’ll find artworks that range in style and media, including ceramics, collages, drawings, videos, textiles, jewelry, paintings, photography, prints, and sculptures. The featured works were selected by art educators and DIA staff.

This video exhibition was made possible because teachers photographed and submitted their student’s work digitally. With the support of parents and guardians, we continue an important exhibition tradition: interviews with student artists talking about their work. Because students could not come to the museum, videos were recorded in their homes and shared with DPSCD.

The partnership with DPSCD is the longest-standing continuous relationship the DIA has with an educational organization. Many of the students whose works have been featured in past exhibitions have gone on to pursue successful careers in the arts, including, among others, Mario Moore, a New York-based contemporary painter whose work has been exhibited nationally and is included in the DIA’s permanent collection.
