Annual Day of Puppetry: Performance - Peter and the Wolf
The Detroit Puppeteers Guild, in partnership with The Detroit Institute of Arts, invite you to a Day of Puppetry. Enjoy National Marionette Theatre’s adaptation of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, a show that has enchanted audiences since its premier in 1936 and follows the adventures of a boy trying to capture a wolf. The artists of the National Marionette Theatre bring this symphonic fairy tale to life with exquisitely crafted marionettes, scrolling scenery, and the beautiful music of Prokofiev’s orchestral score.
Formed in 1949, the Detroit Puppeteers Guild has been active in the Metropolitan Detroit area - presenting festivals, performances, workshops, lectures and Guild events, many of which the public may attend. Membership in the Guild is open to any adult interested in learning more about the lively art of puppetry. There is a youth category as well, serving those who are 12 to 17. Information about joining the Guild can be obtained from the Membership Chairperson, Michael Deller, at mdeller@Ameritech.net. A membership flyer can be found at detroitpuppeteersguild.org.
This event is generously made possible with the help of Detroit Puppeteers Guild.
