Artist Demonstration: Place-Based Art Practice with Kayla Powers
In this demonstration, Kayla will share her approach to engaging with place to create ecologically focused fiber art. Visitors can try their hand at weaving on a loom, dyeing with plants, and working with handmade watercolor paints.
Kayla Powers (b. 1988) is a place-based fiber artist living and working in the North End of Detroit, Michigan. Kayla creates ecologically focused textile art with the intention of exploring the common threads of our shared humanity.
